spring semester planning

First meeting of the year went well. Much merriment and frivolity. So far we have several activities of interest on the calendar, including:

- Movie night at Shannon's house with her massive tv: Feb 11 (tentative)
- Winter picnic at the Lodge: Feb 20
- SURF day "show and tell" (there will be a sign-up sheet): April 5
- Spring picnic with Math department: May 1

We also formed some "task forces" to accomplish some objectives:

- The RHSGS (Red Hat Super Geek Squad) will coordinate making plans to get a speaker, field trip, etc with Red Hat. Installfest?

- The RoC (Renovation of Carpenter) committee will talk about what we can do to make Carpenter Lab look cooler and be more work-friendly.

We also identified the need for a new set of officers and members, since a lot of our members are graduating.

We want to get together against the math department for a "geek week" with some friendly activities, perhaps the week before our joint picnic? Or, maybe during the picnic if we can't get our act together to do anything in advance of it.
